Why we exist

About a decade before the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were set by the United Nations in 2015, Sponsor A Child Through School (S. A. C. T. S.) was formed in 2009 as a not- for-profit,Non-Governmental Organisation to provide life-changing opportunities, through education, for orphans and the less-privileged children in the society. In other words, we have been taking action to educate children in our community for a long time coming.

S.A.C.T.S.’ purpose is pivoted on the fact that well-educated workers/entrepreneurs are the building blocks of a modern, productive, and diversified economy. If Nigeria, and by extension Africa, is to reach its economic productivity and development potentials, it must be able to provide and develop the education and training of the requisite human capital for its growing economy; hence, our vision: “Transforming lives for a better society”.

SDG #4 is premised on the fact that Quality Education enables upward socio-economic mobility and is a key to escaping poverty. We deem our efforts at S. A. C. T. S. as moving Nigeria closer and closer to achieving this SDG, one person at a time.

Our strategy involves sourcing and mobilizing financial resources which is deployed to provide quality education to orphans and less-privileged children in the society, as well as facilitating opportunities to inspire these children to achieve their dreams and become better citizens, through Skill Acquisition and other counselling sessions. By these engagements, we hope to end the cycle of poverty inch-by-inch and improve human capital development and economic productivity in Nigeria.
